Haestad Methods' CivilStorm Dynamic Now Available - First and Only Commercial Simulation Package For Analyzing Everything from Rainfall to Outfall -
WATERBURY, CT July 23, 2004 -- Today, Haestad Methods released CivilStorm Dynamic 2005, a software program for simulating systems of storm sewers, inlets, channels, culverts, detention ponds, and reservoirs -- all within a single scaled model. This new stormwater package is available as a Stand-Alone application or fully integrated with AutoCAD.
CivilStorm Dynamic tears down traditional boundaries between the various aspects of stormwater system analysis, enabling users to accurately simulate entire stormwater networks simultaneously. The ability to do this comes from the dynamic numerical engine, which incorporates a full solution for the Saint-Venant equations.
"In the past, engineers had to cobble together several software packages to model the different pieces of their projects," said Gregg Herrin, P.E., Product Manager for Storm and Sanitary Applications for Haestad Methods. "The mismatch in modeling paradigms and the extra effort needed to maintain several models were a huge source of frustration. CivilStorm takes the opposite approach by helping engineers model entire interdependent systems using a single tool."
The true scaled graphical environment also enables engineers to work with their stormwater modeling projects as they exist in the real world, resulting in faster model creation, more direct simulation, and better mapping and reporting. Scenario management provides the tools engineers need to evaluate different conditions, plan for multiple storm events, and compare potential construction or rehabilitation efforts. CivilStorm's tools work together to support cost-effective stormwater management decisions and help engineers achieve regulatory compliance.
During a recent Stormwater Systems Design and Modeling event hosted by Haestad Methods in Las Vegas, Nevada, many engineers had an opportunity to experience CivilStorm Dynamic's powerful capabilities first hand. Ben Moline, Design Engineer for RBF Consulting, stated, "CivilStorm Dynamic is very promising and exciting to use. The program will allow for real-time modeling with the ability for rapid project changes to meet the client's needs and agency review requirements."
With CivilStorm Dynamic, stormwater professionals can:
Dynamically generate and route runoff hydrographs through storm sewers, channels, culverts, ponds, and reservoirs
Simulate an unlimited number of real or synthetic storm events
Determine capture and carryover flows at inlets
Analyze flow splits, diversions, and looped systems
Model complex pond outlet structures
Compare existing and proposed conditions
Work within AutoCAD, the Stand-Alone graphical editor, or both interchangeably
Use layered background base maps
Create and animate profiles and graphs for comparing elements or scenarios
Control drawing colors, sizes, and annotation text based on input and output data
Customize tabular reports for advanced editing and reporting
Create concise report summaries
Link modeling elements with photos, documents, video clips, and other files.
