CAMWorks Brings CAM Automation to SolidWorks 2005 Software

Scottsdale, AZ September 9, 2004 -- TekSoft, Inc. today announced that CAMWorks 2004Plus supports SolidWorks® 2005 3D mechanical design software. Engineers and designers use SolidWorks and CAMWorks when they want an optimum modeling system to design better products faster and more accurately plus a seamlessly integrated, innovative, feature-based CAM system. This combination can significantly speed time to market.

"CAMWorks was the first SolidWorks Certified Gold Product for manufacturing and the first CAM solution to offer knowledge-based, feature recognition and associative machining capabilities within the SolidWorks environment," said Bruce Wiener, CAMWorks product manager. "Along with numerous improvements to 2½ axis milling, turning and wire EDM, the just released CAMWorks 2004Plus version features additional upgrades to the recently introduced Advanced 3-Axis Machining. These latest innovations in 3-axis machining, combined with SolidWorks' continued excellence in design, make CAMWorks the premier CAM and mold machining solution on the market today. TekSoft continues its commitment to meet the needs of SolidWorks users in the mold making and machining industries with imminent plans to release modules for mill-turn machining centers and 4/5 axis simultaneous milling."

SolidWorks 2005 expands on the software's legacy of ease of use, design power, and affordability by also providing users with comprehensive drawing tools and new productivity features that will speed the adoption of 3D design around the world. The seamless integration of CAMWorks' state-of-the-art machining capabilities into the SolidWorks design software eliminates cumbersome and time-consuming file transfers from the solid modeling software to the CAM system. In addition, the associative nature of the products makes for immediate upgrading of the manufacturing information when the part is changed in SolidWorks, which eliminates time consuming CAM system rework.

"Engineers shouldn't have to hop between two or more different applications to finish a product design," said Brian Houle, Partner Program manager for SolidWorks. "Integrating CAMWorks with SolidWorks means engineers can begin applying manufacturing toolpaths and data directly on the design model within the SolidWorks environment. That saves time and helps manufacturers meet tight production deadlines. Giving engineers the tools they need to work more efficiently is why SolidWorks leads the market for mainstream 3D mechanical design software."

The SolidWorks Partner Program features products and services that complement SolidWorks products. Certified Gold Products are fully integrated with SolidWorks and provide users with instant access to the partner application within the SolidWorks window. Solution Partner products offer a variety of integration methods with SolidWorks software, including the SolidWorks application programming interface (API) and established industry standard file formats. SolidWorks has more partners in the mid-range CAD market than any competing technologies, with more than 600 companies worldwide participating in the SolidWorks Partner Program.
